Abstract :
A hybrid modulation scheme is analysed taking into account the effect of laser phase noise and receiver noise. Both theoretical and simulation performance results of the proposed scheme are provided. The MSK-FM system is found to counteract effectively the laser nonuniform FM characteristic, leaving only a small penalty of 0.2 dB
