Abstract :
A discrete-cosine-transform (DCT) based image compression scheme is presented in this paper that works on a novel and low-complexity color-space designed for wireless capsule endoscopy application. The color-space, referred as YEF, is developed by analyzing the unique features of endoscopic images. A hardware friendly quantization stage is also used here to achieve higher compression. Comparing with the existing works towards endoscopic image compression, the proposed compression scheme outperforms with the average compression ratio of 83.51% and peak-signal-to-noise-ratio of 54.86 dB.
