Abstract
This paper presents a novel strategy to model the structures in the end winding of flameproof motor and calculate the magnetic field in this region. The three dimensional (3-D) nonlinear anisotropic magnetic field including the eddy current losses is calculated by utilizing the magnetic vector potential formulation. With the help of Biot-Savart´s law, the magnetic field caused by the currents in the stator and rotor windings, which are in very complex shapes, can be calculated.
