Abstract
Assigning a per-node priority to live-streaming flows is an effective way to increase the number of flows whose packets can arrive at the destination node within the allowable delay. However, our previous studies on per-node priority assignment do not discuss cases in which there are flows with different bandwidths in the network. Here, we see if the conventional per-node priority assignment method works in a heterogeneous bandwidth environment. In addition, we propose another per-node priority assignment method for flows with heterogeneous bandwidths based on characteristics of the optimum solution. The conventional and the proposed methods are numerically analyzed, and the results show that the conventional method and the proposed method with a low bandwidth threshold can find a near optimum solution in a small network. The methods can also find a good solution even in a large network with heterogeneous bandwidth flows.
