Abstract
Manufacturers of artificial limbs provide a rapidly increasing number of prosthetic devices and accessories in an attempt to meet the varied needs of the amputees. Prosthetic clinics are faced with a difficult task of selections the systems and components that will best suit their client. A software package which assists in the selection process for myoelectrically controlled below-elbow prostheses has been developed. The system attempts to meet the requirements of a given client, as specified by a clinician, by selecting the appropriate prosthetic parts from an extensive database. The compatibility of selected components is verified, and the result of the search is presented for approval. A detailed list of parts required to assemble a suitable prosthesis is then printed out.<>
