For long-wait-short-run equipment, it is in the standby state with very short operating time during its lifetime. The performance degradation of this equipment depends on not only the accumulative operating time, but also the accumulative non-operating time. In this paper, the reliability model of the long-wait-short-run equipment is established based on Gamma process in which both the accumulative operating time and the accumulative non-operating time are treated as independent variables. The method to evaluate the reliability is also proposed. Finally, a numerical experiment is given and the result shows that the proposed method is proper to evaluate the reliability of the long-wait-short-run equipment.
