Abstract
Driving ADES (Assistive Device Expert System) is an expert system under development to assist in the prescription of adaptive driving equipment. Standard procedures, assessments, tools, and expertise have been developed for determining driving ability of an individual. Physical strength and range of motion as well as cognitive and perceptual parameters are assessed. Preliminary device prescriptions are determined from this information. The goal of this project is to identify and capture that experimental knowledge in a reusable form, producing a portable consultant system that could be used by other centers serving severely disabled drivers.<>
