Abstract :
One critical issue for routing in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANET) is how to select a reliable path that can last longer since mobility may cause links to break down frequently. Based on the estimated link lifetime, a novel routing mechanism is proposed in this paper. In order to describe the received signal strength continuously, the Newton interpolation polynomial is constructed according to several sample values; thus, the link lifetime can be estimated with reference points calculated from polynomial. With the manner of maximum link lifetime, the source nodes set up route hop-by-hop. Simulation results show that the received signal strength can be described by Newton interpolation polynomial accurately; moreover, the route discovery times and packet drop ratio can be reduced obviously by our mechanism.
