Abstract :
Multi-path routing scheme can guarantee the probability of successful packet delivery in mobile ad hoc networks (MANET), network reliability can also be enhanced. A novel adaptive multi-path routing protocol with the maximum path lifetime is proposed. By calculating the lifetime of links without the aid of positioning equipments and extra control messages, the partial-disjoint multi-path can be established under current network topology adaptively. The relay nodes divide the end-to-end path into several short segments, which are responsible for recording the packet sequence numbers from their upstream relay nodes and sending parallel redundant packets in the secondary path to compensate the packet loss in the primary path. Simulations show that this mechanism can enhance the packet delivery ratio and provide reliable transmission for data packets; therefore, the performance of the entire network can be enhanced while utilizing the network resource effectively.
