Abstract
A method to provide a measurement of the path ahead of the host vehicle, based on image processing techniques performed on raw radar data, has been described. The advanced path measurement (APM) algorithm has the capabilities to provide target range, velocity and azimuth angle along with own vehicle position on the carriageway, road scenario type (curve or straight), and road path information 200 m ahead of the vehicle. The reliability of the APM algorithm has been evaluated by comparison with its curvature with digital map database, GPS, and yaw rate data, and results have shown a consistent relationship between them.
