Abstract :
The paper describes a new data fusion method for positioning of mobile users in an ad hoc wireless network. The method relies on a double time difference of data arrival. In difference to the presently used alternatives it does not rely on time synchronization of various nodes of the system. It reduces to solving a nonlinear system of equations, which can be handled using standard procedures. Its validity is demonstrated in an example of a simple ad hoc network.
