Abstract :
This paper analyzes and presents an optimal rate allocation and power control mechanism for wireless ad hoc networks. Using network utility maximization (NUM) framework and multiobjective optimization theory, we formulate resource allocation in the network as an optimization problem which takes into consideration both network utility and energy consumption. Meanwhile, the original optimization problem is vertically decomposed into two subproblems with Lagrange dual decomposition: a rate control problem at the transport layer and a power control problem at the physical layer. Both our theoretical analysis and simulation results prove that the proposed algorithm can converge quickly and be implemented in a distributed manner.
