Abstract :
The development of a low noise quartz master oscillator is needed for a number of radiolocation and communication tasks. Ka-band oscillation obtained by frequency multiplication from such an oscillator signal must provide a coherent interval of more than a one second and a short term phase deviation less than 0.1 radian. A low noise ovenized AT-cut quartz oscillator for the frequency range 80-160 MHz has been elaborated for this purpose. Batler´s oscillator scheme was selected as the basis. All parameters from the Leeson phase noise model have been discussed and optimized. The oscillator scheme has been modified to approach the Q-factor of a crystal resonator. It has also allowed to reduce the influence of “technical” noise at oscillation. The phase noise level of the forming signal has been estimated by means of noise spectral density power measurements
