Abstract :
The shadowing (or long term) statistics of a wireless system have a large impact on the overall performance, thus effecting the system capacity, quality-of-service, coverage, hard and soft handover parameters. It is shown experimentally that the inherent path diversity of a direct sequence spread spectrum system will reduce the long-term envelope variation due to shadowing, as well as impacting the severity of the street corner effect.
