Abstract
In wireless mesh networks (WMN), most flows are destinated to Internet. The IEEE 802.11s standard does not consider the flow characterization of WMN. Employing the mechanism may cause some scalable issues. SWMN, a new scalable architecture for WMN is proposed, which consists two components, one is mesh backbone, the other is mesh domain. To form this architecture, two metrics "radio metric" and "domain metric" are calculated, furthermore, two procedures are proposed to achieve the forming processing. We investigate the performance of this architecture by simulations and the results show that SWMN has better scalability and more capacity.
