Abstract :
MILES is a mixed-level simulator for analog and analog/digital system design. Its purpose is to combine many simulation levels and methods in one simulation, thus allowing verification of mixed analog/digital systems even before implementation at circuit level is done. A mathematical description is derived for such a mixed-level system, and a waveform-relaxation-based algorithm for simulating it is given. One of the test runs involved the simulation of a sigma-delta modulator for more than 65000 clock periods, taking several performance aspects into account. It is concluded that, using the proposed approach, analog/digital circuits can be simulated which are beyond the capabilities of both circuit simulation and purely logical simulators
