Abstract
This paper describes a new positive sequence directional element for use in numerical distance relays. Results are shown for the performance of the element in relays on the Manitoba Hydro network during disturbances and from tests on the Real Time Digital Simulator (RTDS) in the Power Systems Laboratory at the University of Manitoba
