Abstract
This paper describes a methodology for calculating the marginal outage costs in interconnected generating systems. The proposed method quantifies the impact of capacity assistance from neighboring systems on the marginal outage cost. The effect of selected interconnection topologies and modeling assumptions on these costs is also presented in order to illustrate how simplified representations can be used to approximate the results obtained using more detailed reliability models
