Abstract :
The computational structures of three multifrequency decomposition image models, namely DCT, Laplacian pyramid, and wavelet transform are examined and compared in this paper. Their suitability for flexible subimage reconstruction is also discussed. The quality of reconstructed images from the three models is investigated with respect to image analysis. A basic and mostly used image processing process-edge detection-is applied to those images. Based on the results, some very interesting properties for each model are observed
