Abstract :
A QoS-aware time slot assigning algorithm and a time slot dynamical adjusting algorithm are proposed in the paper in order to improve the channel utilization and fairness in the IEEE 802.15.3 MAC protocol. The joint algorithms adopt different adjusting scheme for CBR and VBR streams. By using 5 unused bits in the frame header, the joint algorithms can work compatibly with other ordinary 802.15.3 MAC without any modification in the standard frame header. The simulation results show that the joint algorithms can achieve higher efficiency and fairness with a lower overhead compared to existing dynamical time slot adjusting algorithms.
