  • Abstract
IEEE 802.16 standard supports two topologies: Point-to-multipoint (PMP) and Mesh. In this paper, Optimal Base Station Scheduler of IEEE 802.16 Mesh mode is proposed. We propose Optimal Base Station Scheduler (OBSS) that makes scheduling decisions based on the time required of each Mesh Subscriber Station (MSS) and the granting time given to all MSSs in the network. Different services should deal with different QoS requirement, such as images, video, etc. The differences of services is clearly reflected in the time factor. To reduce delay time, and to serve more users in Mesh networks, we propose the OBSS scheduling mechanism, where all links are ordering by their requesting time. The links that request the shortest time will be at the top of list, whereas the links that request the longest time will be at the end of the list. Simulation results show that OBSS limits the delay time for each MSS, and thus achieves the QoS requirement in WiMax mesh network.
