Abstract
In previous years, micromachined/grooved microstrip microwave components have attracted much attention due to their lower loss than their counterparts with normal substrates. However, most of the previous work has focused on experimental measurement. A few modelling studies have also been carried out. In this paper, the FDTD is used to extend the studies to the loss and field calculation in grooved microstrip lines. Good results are obtained and are discussed.
