Abstract
Today´s IEEE 802.11 Wireless LAN (WLAN) is an excellent solution for the broadband wireless networking. However, it lacks of the capability to support real-time services such as Voice-over-IP (VoIP) properly. In this paper, a novel link-layer packet segmentation method is proposed to promote the performance of VoIP which do not influence non-real-time application much. In this method the channel utilization is used to decide the factor of the segmentation. This method is verified through simulations.
