Abstract :
An approach to the synthesis of variable frequency oscillators (VFOs) is proposed. As a starting point, this method describes VFOs independently of active elements and particular implementations are then discussed. Furthermore, the technique allows us to unify apparently different VFOs in the same class and to classify them according to their practical applications. First, sinusoidal oscillator synthesis associated with biquadratic filters is described. Then, practical implementations of the oscillator are considered based on OTAs and CCII based integrators
