Abstract :
It is known that the basic directions of high-temperature superconductors for use in microwave techniques are the passive devices for cryogenic low-noise receiving systems and nonstationary Josephson effect based radiometry, fast frequency analysis and signal spectra and voltage standard creation. In these applications it is important to be able to synchronize the junctions to each other by mm-and submm radiation. It has been shown that Josephson junction array synchronization can be achieved by surface electromagnetic wave excitation near the spinal boundary boarder within a standard rectangular waveguide. Unfortunately, the sample size must exceed the wavelength significantly. We describe a superconducting surface wave resonator (SWR) for use in the synchronization of an array of Josephson junctions in the 9-34 GHz frequency range. The synchronization may be obtained by quasioptical techniques for the metal-dielectric. boundary especially for the mm-waveband. The purpose of this investigation is the creation of a surface wave excitation technique and SWR for studying in the 50-80 GHz range at low temperature level
