Abstract :
The use of parametrical phenomena for the development of low noise amplifiers and frequency converters has been investigated thoroughly and described in the literature. In millimeter range the realization of such devices encounters the essential difficulties connected to features of waveguide construction and the transformed frequencies. In this paper the authors discuss the use of a Schottky-barrier diode (SBD) in the design of a millimeter wave parametric frequency converter. The difficulties encountered in the development of a unit for mounting the SBD and contacting whisker are outlined, with an illustration of the unit configuration
