Abstract :
The IVI driver standards, first announced at Autotestcon in 1998, have matured significantly in recent years, with several manufacturers currently offering numerous drivers. In parallel with the deployment of IVI, Microsoft has also introduced the .NET technologies. To help support this environment, the IVI foundation has produced standards and common components for the use of current drivers in .NET. The IVI foundation has also begun development of a new IVI .NET open architecture. Developers using IVI drivers in .NET environments can use current IVI open architecture drivers. As the new IVI .NET open architecture is completed, drivers based on it will also be available. Developers have several choices and need to understand the implications of building heterogeneous systems and how current systems can easily evolve to take advantage of features in new IVI .NET drivers without impacting code that is written today
