Abstract :
A picocellular network consists of picocells whose radius is of the order of ten meters. This small cell radius causes frequent cell movements of mobile hosts. In order to support seamless communication service to mobile users, we need a new handoff scheme. In this paper, we propose a multicast-based pre-handoff scheme which minimizes buffer overhead for seamless communication service as well as handoff delay. We call this scheme sub-group buffering handoff scheme (SGHS)
