Abstract :
Time signal synthesis on the basis of multifrequency measurements of complex reflection coefficients (RC) is a powerful means to localize discontinuities in microwave components and layered dielectric structures via spectral analysis of experimental data (Vanhamme, 1990). This method can be considered as a synthesized impulse method. Frequency dispersion makes it difficult to apply direct time-domain reflectometry in standard waveguides. Widening of the frequency band gives the possibility of synthesizing shorter pulses, and thus structures with less distance between discontinuities can be tested. This paper examines the design of a vector reflectometer for operation in the millimeter and submillimeter wave range
