Abstract :
For the using of permanent magnet material, permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) can generate back EMF even rotating without load. Railway vehicle has the special working condition of costing. When PMSM is applied to railway traction system, the high back EMF during coasting and the difficult of re-closing must be resolved. Reducing synthesized air-gap flux linkage with adding negative d-axis current can reduce the back EMF, but the copper loss is increased and the reliability of control unit and inverter must be enhanced. In this paper, several schemes of designing PMSM have been put forward in order to reduce back EMF during costing with high speed, and which give a reference for selecting PMSM applied to railway vehicle traction system.
