Abstract
We investigate the use of limited wires as shortcuts for increasing the lifetime of hybrid sensor networks. The routing strategies and wiring schemes for this hybrid sensor network are designed. Using analysis and simulation, we evaluate the length of network lifetime when varying the network size, cluster size and node densities. The analytical results show that wires can increase the network lifetime significantly. Cluster size is the fatal factor that affects the lifetime of this network, whereas network size and node density of network affect the network lifetime slightly.
