Abstract :
This paper presents a video distortion meter capable of simulating both double stimulus continuous quality scale (DSCQS) and single stimulus continuous quality evaluation (SSCQE) subjective assessments. It employs distortion-weighting and blockiness detection as a means of measuring the level of impairment in MPEG-coded video. Cascaded by an integrator and a cognitive emulator, the model is capable of providing a single score representing the overall quality of a video sequence, or a trace reflecting the instantaneous quality of the video
