Abstract :
In this paper we describe the electronic design of a PCI-SCI bridge supporting shared memory, message passing and DMA transfers. This bridge is used to implement a shared-memory multiprocessor system. The PCI-SCI bridge´s functional units are programmed into re-loadable FPGAs (Field Programmable Gate Array). These functions are developed in VHDL and then simulated, synthesized, routed and placed via ATT´s advanced FPGA ORCA development tools. The results in terms of latency and bandwidth are satisfactory and they reach the initial set objectives
