Reliable performance of diesel engine is very important to ensure the vehicle availability in plateau region. Considering characteristics of the plateau environment, on the basis of the simulation engine test, the impact of the diesel engine performance is studied in plateau environment. The study shows that increasing the excess air ratio, improving combustion, and enhancing cooling are the main measures to improve the diesel engine reliability in plateau environment. The research results will provide the reference for the design of diesel engines and improve the existing vehicle diesel engine in plateau environment.
