Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to study the design and implementation of an efficient and inexpensive real-time NURBS interpolator for CNC motion control. The proposed real-time NURBS interpolator integrates the advantages of digital differential analyzer (DDA) and the native NURBS interpolator with the help of data conversion module. Since such an open NURBS interpolator can be easily realized by the off-shelf DSP chips and/or CPLD devices, the manufacture industry will be interested in this real-time NURBS interpolator soon in the future. The actual manufacture of NURBS curves validates that the proposed real-time interpolator is feasible for the motion control in the traditional CNC machine.
