Abstract
This paper presents an intelligent system which makes possible to control raw material flow automatically. The system is supported by two expert systems which determine on a case-by-case basis whether the raw materials must be allowed straight into the factory without inspection or, otherwise, it must go through any kind of inspection. Should the material be inspected, it must be sent either to a reposition department, where perfect pieces will replace defective ones, or to a general lot analysis department, where in case of lot rejection, the material must be re-inspected or returned to suppliers. An experimental use of this system is reported and the preliminary results are analyzed
