Abstract
BitTorrent file-sharing is one of the most prevalent P2P applications. An improved fluid model is proposed in this paper. It can be used to analyze the evolution of peers and predict the average file download delay of BitTorrent system in a network circumstance with bottleneck links which previous works seldom focus on. The main contribution of this model is that the underlying network structure is also added into modeling consideration and the estimate results are closer to the practical BitTorrent system than the simple fluid model in a network circumstance with bottleneck links. Experimental results based on simulation are also given out to validate the correctness and availability of this model.
