Abstract
A dedicated system has been designed for multichannel electromyography and other biosignal acquisition applications using the miniaturization capability of hybrid microelectronics technology. In this system, each electrode set site is provided with a hardware module consisting of a high-common mode rejection ratio differential amplifier, low-pass filter, a 12-bit analog-to-digital converter, a parallel-to-serial converter/buffer, and a communication network server. In a multichannel system, the serial digital outputs from each channel are time-division multiplexed onto a single shared wire. The principal advantages of this system for clinical electromyography include proximity of the signal acquisition electronics to the electrode sites and reduced patient constraint, since all channels share a single common wire set.<>
