Abstract
Multicast is an important transmission protocol for new applications under mobile, static or hybrid networks. A good multicast retransmission scheme is important for the development and expansion of hybrid networks. Especially, careful continuous monitoring and control is fundamental in wireless mobile environments. Existing multicast protocols that adopt static packets retransmission schemes often result in performance loss due to poor conservation of bandwidth, power and memory resources. This paper presents a new static-mobile solution to the retransmission problem inherent in hybrid network environments. Splitting the primary multicast tree into sub-multicast trees and selecting different retransmission schemes, due to the traits of the sub-multicast tree, is important in the efficient use of multicast tree protocols, depending on whether those tress are static or mobile. Precise conditions and rules for retransmission are set taking into account the mobile network state. Finally, this paper presents a LMR algorithm which includes LSRM and LDMR algorithms. By analysis, the new retransmission scheme can improve the performance of the hybrid networks.
