Abstract :
Internet has evolved greatly from its original incarnation. For instance, at the time TCP was designed, network interface devices were expensive components, and hence multi-path of end hosts was beyond the ken of research. Along with growth and changed in economy, increasing emphasis on end-to-end transfer efficiency has brought multi-path within the purview of transport layer, thus transforming transport layer multi-path into a feature worth supporting and investigating. On the other hand, the original Internet used single TCP connection for an application, but now applications that require good network performance often use parallel TCP connections to improve the effectiveness of TCP. To adapt to these changes, we propose priority multi-connection and multi-path architecture (PMMA), which will utilize above new technologies of Internet to improve Internet users´ satisfaction. We use queueing models to analyze current multi-connection multi-path implements and our PMMA. The NS2 simulations prove the efficiency of PMMA.
