Abstract
A number of prosthetic devices are available for repair or replacement of an injured or diseased anterior cruciate ligament, which is the site of the most commonly occurring sports related injuries. Studies show, however, that all of the existing devices tend to fail within a few years of implantation. Using high performance textile materials and novel designs, structures are developed which have the potential of mimicking the properties of natural tissues while providing long term performance in vivo. Materials, methods, and results of preliminary studies are presented
