Investigation of the population density plays a vital role in the Safety evacuation management in public laces. This paper selects the underground shopping mall as the research object, and field investigation is carried out on the partition function in the mall. Then, the authors have carried on the analysis to the data of the different functional areas of the flow of people and population density, the flow characteristics of the usual personnel and the crowd density. The crowd density of supermarket shop and fruit store is significantly higher than other districts. The crowd density of shoe shops and digital products store is much lower than other districts. Through the study of the population density, designers can optimize the design scheme of shopping function partition, and managers can make safe evacuation plans according to the theoretical basis.
