Abstract :
The challenges in designing a system to provide customer station rearrangement (CSR) and other sophisticated services for varied end-customers on several different switch types are discussed. These challenges are defining and implementing the user-interface, and defining the set of features that can be changed. The Multiple Access Customer Station Rearrangement (Macstar) end customer management system meets this challenge with its software engine approach, which allows the telephone company servicing the end-customer to tailor the system to meet each end-customer´s needs. Macstar is discussed with respect to system features, user interface, software design alternatives, and implementation
