Abstract :
In this paper we introduce a series connected photovoltaic inverter which operates in series with the grid supply and injects PV power to the load along with the grid. The inverter can also provide voltage compensation so that the load voltage is kept constant when the grid voltage fluctuates. During daytime, the inverter works in “PV mode” and feeds power to the load. During nighttime, the inverter works in “AC mode” by taking input energy from the AC grid source and provide local voltage compensation. A 1kW prototype system is designed and the concept is verified by experiments.
