Abstract
We propose the use of a multiagent-based social simulation approach to help decision makers in their task of choosing the best policy/decision when facing complex scenarios. We show how we can use MABS tools an techniques to experiment/rehearse with different scenarios and how this methodology can help the decision making process. We use these ideas to develop an application to the problem of GHGs (Greenhouse Gases) emission reduction. We explain why this is a critical problem and stress the importance of our approach to deal with it. We focus here in one of the most relevant instruments that has been used so far -- a market based approach, more specifically the ``carbon market.´´ We illustrate how this type of instruments can be rehearsed, by means of a simulation implemented in the NetLogo framework.
