Abstract :
An inter-media multimode terminal using software defined radio (SDR) technology will be essential for future intelligent transport systems (ITS) info-communication systems including cellular telephone, DSRC, and digital broadcasting. As the first step to the inter-media multimode and as the competence in deployment of the dedicated short range communications (DSRC) for multiple applications, a high-speed DSRC multimode terminal using SDR technology has been developed. The experimental multi-band terminal can receive signals of the 5.8 GHz and 2.5 GHz wireless bands. The experimental 5.8 GHz DSRC employs a duplex system at a data rate of 4 Mbps with a π/4-DQPSK modulation. A simplex 2.5 GHz band uses an RF signal modulated by GMSK at a data rate of 64 kbps. The experimental terminal is composed of a multi-band RF section, a software defined modem, a protocol and application processor, and a download controller
