Abstract :
Summary form only given. It is a challenge to manufacture QPM gratings in bulk material with good quality over needed dimensions, typical grating periods are /spl Lambda/=3-50 /spl mu/m, over crystal thickness of 1-3 mm. Thus, it is crucial to be able to control, monitor and increase the knowledge about the poling process. We present here a new method to monitor the poling process in KTP, which relies on the electrooptic effect. This method opens up the possibility to view the poling dynamics of a few periods of the grating in real time.
