Abstract
A novel soft-switching boost converter used in power factor correction (PFC) is introduced in this paper. The basic circuit topology of the proposed converter consists of a traditional single-switch boost PFC and a lossless passive snubber. The snubber is composed of an auxiliary capacitor, an inductor and two diodes which are introduced to achieve ZVS and ZCS mode and let the converter work well under the conditions from light to rating loads. Furthermore, the operating principle of the converter which is different from described and some practical design considerations are discussed. Finally the simulation and experimental results analysed in detail are presented to determine the characteristics.
