Abstract :
The presence of pollution on the insulators surfaces considerably modifies the voltage distribution across an insulator string. This phenomenon has been studied and a computer program has been developed. Poor design, manufacturing defects and pollution can caused flashover (voltage which will cause an arc through the air surrounding the insulator). Theoretical studies of the characteristics of a string of insulator due to the effect of dirt are described. This paper presents the results of calculation the voltage distribution of a string of insulator due to the effect of dirt. A calculation model of actual voltage distribution along clean and dry unit insulator string is proposed. This paper describes observation and analysis of calculation the voltage distribution over a string of suspension insulators, and compares the efficiency percentage to other methods, which have been presented in previous paper.
