Abstract :
This paper presents the summary of the presentation for the panel session "custom power applications and issues" at the IEEE T&D Show 2003 in Dallas. The presentation will introduce and explain the objectives of the DVR application, discuss the ABB\´s experience over the last several years, and give some trends about the possible future uses of the technology. The presentation refers to a DVR system commissioned in 2000. The DVR compensates sags with a duration of up to 600 milliseconds on a 22.5 MVA load. Single and three phase voltage sags of 50 percent and 35 percent, respectively can be compensated.
